Aspirations, a hope or ambition of achieving something. We all have them. Weather that be to wake up in a positive mood each day to as lengthy as climbing the Swiss Alps someday. Each and everyone of us has that goal or that aspiration to accomplish something to set our soul alive and to embezzle in that feeling of accomplishment. But how do we keep our mind right about achieving such a dream? I’ll tell you right now the thing that is holding you back the most is your mindset and how you view a goal that seems so far out their, your focus is on the distance it takes. But if you could for a moment shift your thinking into plotting out the steps it’s going to take to achieve that aspiration, that dream, what does that road ahead look like? Because thinking about the journey and crippling ourselves into thinking it’s such a haul, such a trek that the feeling that follows next is self doubt and defeat. THAT right there is your mindset controlling you. Train your mental muscle to work for you. You don’t work for your mind, your mind works for you. And that mind of yours WILL be conditioned to speak a positive outlook that will free you and allow you to achieve that aspiration that you treasure in your heart. So what does it take to plot out your path of aspiration achievement? Here are some tips that will help you strategize:

  1. Write it down!

Having a visual, tangible item that you can add to and remind yourself is an excellent way to narrow your focus, provides short-term motivation, and for me personally is very exciting to write down my goals and dreams because all of a sudden once I’ve take the time to write it out on paper it possesses this magic of becoming real and brings it to life which is the sole purpose of an aspiration

  • Daily habits help!

A dream is a dream until you make it become real. Choose 1-3 intentional daily habits that you can do daily that will propel you in the direction you want to go and that much closer to your end goal. For example if my goal was to get in shape and I wanted to run but am starting from scratch. My three daily habits might include something along the lines of

  1. I will start running 10 minutes everyday this week
  2. I will carve out time in my schedule to devote to those 10 minutes of running
  3. I will log in everyday how much time I ran

Not only do these 3 daily habits keep us accountable for our actions but if you follow through on daily habits what you’ll find happens is, you will fall into a routine of doing these daily habits without thinking, it will become more a mental habit which is good for not only our aspiration but our mindset.

        3.Awareness of your aspiration!

Alright, now this one seems obvious right? Develop an awareness of an aspiration? Duh! But hear me out. An aspiration starts from within you. It’s just a goal, an idea, a dream…until you put the work into it, and until it consumes your soul and once that happens there is no stopping it. Anytime you think about it, dream about it, take daily steps towards that goal, fedding into it and giving energy and life into it, only then will you keep it at the forefront of your mind and keep being consistent with your path and on that one specific aspiration. When this occurs, you will be unstoppable because no one is able to accomplish such an aspiration better then you can! Remember that!

Remember, an aspiration only remains an aspiration until YOU put in the steps to turn that aspiration into a dream and when you take steps towards that aspiration and hold yourself accountable for it, it BECOMES your reality. The time to act is now, and act today because time is our most precious asset and once time is lost, time is wasted, it’s gone forever. What will your first step be in acting upon your aspiration?

Think about a conveyor belt at the grocery store and how it’s “programmed” to keep moving ahead, moving the food from the hands of the shopper to the cashier for scanning and check out. There are no different directions, it doesn’t do anything special or unique. It just moves in one direction, it doesn’t stand out in anyway, shape, or form. We as humans have the capabilities of making choices, designing our lives, acting upon next steps. WE are not robots, we don’t have to conform to societies views of what we should become. Who are they to decide what we should be or what we should become anyways? They don’t know us, our skills, our ambitions, what we are capable of achieving. We are the ones in the drivers seat. Yet, many of us fall deeper and deeper into the trap of sticking to the familiar because we are naturally drawn to the predictable, what not only society thinks we should be but what our mind thinks we should be. Then we begin to feel stuck in this day to day life where everyday tasks become mundane and boring and it sucks the life out of us until we are emptied of excitement, of adventure, and a reason for being. Some life huh? Not for you! You were made for more, for greater things. You have things in your life you want to accomplish. Think about time, and how valuable it is. You only have one of those, one life to live. What you need to decide is how are you going to spend that one and only life and when are you going to get started? Considering everyday is not promised. What is it going to take for you to dive deep within yourself and pull out that motivation that’s been tucked away, hidden all this time. Your time to shine is today because you were made for more then you think you are. Don’t be a straight and narrow path, take a turn and turn back around, go off the grid or off the beaten path cause your heart is calling out for you to do it. What if you took the chance? The leap? The action? What do you have to lose when you have everything to gain! We are creatures of comfort. We like the familiar because it’s known to us. And stepping out into something new can feel uncomfortable, or we have a difficult time adjusting to change because it’s different.

Remember a dream or an aspiration is only ever going to remain an aspiration until YOU develop a daily plan of action, put daily effort into it to see it build and flourish over time. How do you put consistency into an aspiration you ask? It’s all about the actionable steps you take each and every day. Let’s break it down:

  1. Start your day by creating a master to do list of all the tasks you need to accomplish to work towards your aspiration.
  2. Next, your going to categorize that master to do list you’ve just created. For example, you can rank your tasks as most important to not as important, or you can pick 2-3 tasks and every day during this week you will knock out those three tasks
  3. Then, your going to keep yourself accountable every day by ensuring these tasks get accomplished and at the end of each day you can look at what you’ve accomplished, and where you are in your productivity and shift tasks as needed
  4. Take comfort in the fact that time is your best asset and utilize it as much as you possibly can. Keep tunnel focus on your aspiration and work on your dream late into the night while others are sleeping. Celebrate the wins along in your journey for they will be your biggest motivation and give you a sense of accomplishment to achieve such an aspiration

Back to the conveyor belt analogy, one thing I will say is that it keeps moving forward, it doesn’t stop moving. That’s a lesson we can take away from it in reference to ourselves. And even if we have a difficult day, or a breakdown of defeat, we have the opportunity to repair our selves and keep moving forward. A mind shift if you will. If you can do anything, even on your toughest of days it would be to keep moving forward. Even if it’s the smallest of steps, it is nevertheless a step in the right direction, and that contributes to your character building which is a powerful tool.

My question to you is; How do you get yourself back on track when you have a bump in the road? Please leave your comment below, I’d love to hear from you.
